Disappointment...

Early this morning I watched as a Red-shouldered hawk sat on a high perch above the pond. I thought that she might have her eye on some unaware bog resident, although I haven't seen any frogs since our last bout of colder weather. I got my camera and was ready for what I hoped would be some BogDrama. She dropped straight down to the bog and grabbed something with her left talon. Sadly, for her at least, she had only 'captured' an algae covered rock. She lifted it out of the water and dropped it on a large rock, her look of disappointment showing clearly on her face (ok, maybe not). With that she turned and gracefully lifted into the air, flying off to continue her search for breakfast. m
