Simple lunch

I’d take a few pictures of something other than food but the weather is frightful and so we scuttled from watering hole to watering hole.  Plus I had a bad night and was jet-lagged and a bit spacey all day.

Tea in the room before coffee in a cool little place called Devocion.  I then got my nails done, easiest thing do when you’re not up to much.  For lunch we went to a Korean restaurant that had only one dish and you sat at the counter.  It’s called Okdongsik and it was so simple and pure an experience it was almost spiritual.  A bowl of broth with pork and rice and one side of dumplings.  Only accompaniments were  kim chi and their special paste that you are firmly told not to put in the broth but on the meat before you raise it to your mouth. It was fragrant, delicious and very soothing.

The snow started so we went back to the hotel for a nap before meeting V’s stepmother at Joe Allan’s for a pre show dinner.  We went to see Death Becomes her, a riot and brilliantly done musical.  Very funny and entertaining. Out into freezing rain, we managed to put Ranjit a taxi and got back to our hotel by 1130.
