Jökulsárlón

My favourite place in Iceland is the glacier lake, Jökulsárlón. For some reason we have not been there this year, so I decided this weekend will be a good time to go and see it. It is about 400 km from Reykjavik, and there are a lot of other nice things to see on the road, like some very nice waterfalls, a black beach with lovely black pebbles and also puffins, and lots of other things.

We did not have time to stop at a lot of places, we had one goal in mind, and that was to reach Jökulsárlón. It was as magical as always, and well worth the 11 hours we spent on the road! On the way back we passed an accident scene where a car had rolled and gone down an enbankment, we later heard that 2 people died in the accident. On the road out of Reykjavik there is a big sign with 2 crashed cars on it and underneath it shows the number of fatalities that had occurred during the year - when we left in the morning it said 6, and when we returned 11 hours later, it said 8, somebody had already updated it.
