Very special weather day

Heavy snowfall and gale winds in our region Uppland made this day special. We drove to the countryside 50 km northeast to pick up two grandchilden; we had planned to drive with them to Hälsingland (the northern direction from Uppsala) but hesitated when a ”yellow warning” was issued due to the weather conditions. After a while, it was an easy decision to stay at home when an accident with ten cars involved occurred 20 km north of Uppsala. 13 people were taken to the hospital in Uppsala and the motorway  was closed in both directions for several hours.

Only two hours later there was one more accident, 40 km southeast of Uppsala, with 95 (!) vehicles involved. 106 (!!) people were taken to hospitals in Uppsala, Enköping and Stockholm, some people have severe injuries. There were further reports about minor accidents during all the afternoon.

The main blip is taken in a village on the countryside – the weather was really nice there, for a while. The second extra illustrates how it was to get there… Hard to believe that the photos are taken during the same (dramatic) day!

The grandchildren stay with us and tomorrow we will make a new attempt to get to Hälsingland!
