cake shop
So today was Glasgow's Depressed Cake Shop- where cakes were being sold in aid of the Mental Health Foundation- but it wasn't as simple as that. All cakes had to be grey on the outside, and they were all baked by people who kindly volunteered their time to the cause. A creative way to get people talking about mental health- depression in particular. There's talk of baking groups for people living with depression which I think is a good idea- there's so much focus on exercise being beneficial for mild to moderate depression but sometimes I think just having the chance to do something with a group of people can be more helpful than jogging on a treadmill. When even the thought of getting out of bed is exhausting it's going to be nearly impossible to get into a park or gym and burn more of that energy you just don't have. The option to turn up and bake cakes and chat might be a good one that doesn't require quite so much physical effort- when sometimes the mental effort is more than enough to face.
In saying that, I love exercise and this weekend I've thoroughly exhausted my poor thighs and backside. Combat pump yoga cycling weights sprints and zumba (and more cycling). And I've just arranged a 6:30am bro-sis workout. Best go to sleep.
