Whither The Wind

Today I tried to capture swirling patterns in the wind blown snow out on the lake. The late sun created side lighting that emphasised ridges in the snow. I stuck to the shore this time so I didn't mess it all up with footprints.

A wide angle lens made a nice job of the immediate foreground, but beyond that the patterns get lost. Perhaps a telephoto would work, but I would need to get higher. A step ladder maybe?

It might look nice, but it was jolly cold.
