Roof treatment

The roofer came as promised first thing and set about removing moss from the gutters and the roof. He then sprayed the roof with a treatment which should keep the moss at bay for a while. I walked down to the supermarket at the bottom of the village for a bit of exercise before playing tennis. I was about to set off when a neighbour called asking me to help move two sofas which he had sold out of his house. The purchaser had hired a van, but the two of them could not manage to lift the sofas by themselves. I helped and we managed to get them down some narrow steps. They were extremely heavy and I was very glad that nobody hurt themselves. I received a letter from Maire in the afternoon saying that some work had been done in the church and that they were prepared to do more but would like a contribution to the purchase of several items. They will not charge for the labour and the proposals that they set out seem reasonable.
