Rowan Tree

In the garden, in my childhood home, we had a Rowan tree growing at the front gate entrance as my very superstitious Mum said it kept the evil spirits away. I now have a self-seeded Rowan tree growing at my back garden gate (I'm sure my Mum's spirit must have had something to with this) which has a profuse crop of berries on it this year for the first time ever. I seem to remember that the berries at home were much redder than this, though.

A miserable day today, indeed, and not just because the weather was so wet.
