A sneak peek!
Wednesday
We awoke this morning to another coating of snow on the grass and rooftops, though the roads and driveways were mainly clear. It was a dreary dismal day, and the morning was spent unpacking, doing laundry and my Duolingo. Mid afternoon we had signed up for a sneak peek of the new Cincinnati Public Radio station. Up until now they were located in rented accommodation across the road from the back of Music Hall downtown, but the city is wanting to redevelop that block, so they had to move, and took the opportunity to build a brand new and larger space, with space for the public to visit and be more involved, and for them to be able to host small events and recitals. The building is a two-story mass timber structure with a glass curtain wall. They expect to move into the new building in April, with a big Open House at the end of the month. However, to subscribers and those who had made a donation to the capital campaign, they were offering these sneak peek guided tours. Cincinnati Public Radio comprises three stations, WGUC, classical music station, WVXU, news and talk radio, and WMUB. I listen mainly to WGUC, which besides offering a wide range of recorded classical music, is also a great source of information for what’s going on locally. Roger on the other hand is more of a talk radio person, though he enjoys the music too. It’s a beautiful building and a much more pleasant space to work in, with much more light and space, and the tour was very informative.
