Castle Semple peel tower ruin

originally three storeys it was built circa 1560 by Catholic 3rd Lord Semple, a supporter of Mary Queen of Scots, to protect the estate against Protestant incursion at the turbulent violent time of the Reformation, it still stood in 1820 but fell to ruin... bronze cannons were found in the loch and since preserved.
