Space age, history and art

Another fabulous day. We travelled from Kyoto to Nagoya by the famous Shinkansen bullet train then changed to an express train to Matsumoto at the foot of the Japanese alps. Lunch was the famous soba noodles with tempura fish and vegetables. Then a visit to the scenic Matsumoto Castle with the snow covered alps in the background. Finally a visit to Matsumoto’s museum of art to see an exhibition dedicated to the works of the contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama who was born in Matsumoto. Incredibly arresting pieces. The famous Pumpkin is shown in the collage.
A lovely Japanese meal in the evening and then the bonus of seeing the Castle lit up by a light show only on for another two days.
