Leonberger and Peppers
Good Night's Sleep. Woke up feeling fresh and ready to go. Inspired by yesterday, decided to visit Dorchester Museum & Art Gallery. Been saying that since seeing an Elizabeth Frink work featured on Fake or Fortune, and they mentioned an exhibition was coming up in Dorchester. Sadly never got to it.
So 10:25 train. Inevitably delayed
en-route by a trespasser on the line. Arrived soon after 11:00.
Stopped for a disappointing coffee, must've been under new ownership. Popped over to the Wednesday market. The exceptional greengrocer at Wareham Market, with a huge range of fruit & veg, is now there too. Mr B delighted we could restock with radicchio.
Headed down to the Museum. Mr B happily disappeared to do a few 1000 more steps. I looked at art by local artists, displayed chronologically. Luckily there were several Frinks displayed.
No visit is complete without seeing what's new in Poundbury. Today's great find was 'Peppina Sicilian Bakery'. Not on Trip Advisor... lucky to see it on Google Map.
Tucked away inside a yard. You wouldn't know it was there. I'm not usually a fan of Sicilian cakes etc. - too sweet and creamy. Peppina was an eye-opener. Freshly baked there, superb light croissants, buns and pastries. Possibly the best outside London. Enjoyed Focaccia with hummus, sun dried and fresh tomatoes,
We ended up having a long chat with the enthusiastic young owner. So impressive what he's created there, and with several staff. Hope he'll find time to visit us in Bournemouth, with his young son and a baby on the way.
