Another Ethel bagging walk in the Peak District led by friend Rachel, who guides in the Peak and elsewhere for a living, but who offers the Ethel walks free of charge.
We bagged Durham Edge 416m, which we couldn't actually reach because it's on private land - very unsatisfactory in my book - and then Burton Bole End 417m, which has no trig but at least we could stand on the summit - blip!
We got back to the start point, The Barrel Inn at Bretton, and were looking forward to a cuppa or a beer for some while we compared which Ethels we all still needed to bag, but unfortunately no dogs were allowed apart from Guide Dogs. The pub is really missing a trick because it's out in the middle of nowhere and a haven for walkers, some of whom have dogs. Rachel's dog Bess is extremely well behaved and there were no objections to muddy boots so more fool them... apparently the pub has changed hands :-(
I felt quite knackered at the end as there was a fair bit of ascent and a couple of cross country, ie heather, sections. A couple wanted to bag the Ethel on Eyam Moor, which I'd already got, so we drove there and I was going to wait in the car but.... I was "encouraged" to do that one as well in spite of not needing to. Hey ho, you gotta do what you're told!
Then Angie messaged asking if I was up for bouldering in the morning.... haha, but yes!
