The big 5-0

I'm fairly making my way through Geddy Lee's autobiography (and it's very, very good) and still have another in the grand collection to read. This one is a collection of reviews of their output to celebrate the band reaching its 50th anniversary last year.

Of course, Rush's last studio album was Clockwork Angels in 2012, and they toured that one into the following year, and in 2015 wound down the operation with their 40th anniversary "R40 Live" tour. That was them going out on a real high point, recognising that they were all beginning to feel their age a bit – guitarist Alex had arthritis in his fingers and drummer Neil had tendinitis in his arms; and they also all had family they wanted to be with. When Neil died in 2020, that was it.

I was glad I had the chance to see them perform on their last four tours of the UK.
