Story Bridge, Brisbane
The Story Bridge across the Brisbane River was designed by engineer John Bradfield, who had earlier designed the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Bradfield was born in Brisbane and studied engineering in Sydney. He was commissioned by the Queensland Government to design and build a major bridge across the Brisbane River. Construction started in May 1935 and the bridge opened in July 1940. Early today our walking group strolled across the bridge, narrowly avoiding many kamikaze bicycle riders determined to get to work in the minimum time.
The extra is a night-time photo of the bridge I took 12 months ago.
Thanks BobsBlips for hosting todays Wide on Wednesday challenge with theme transport.
