Mush-room for improvement

The boys all got a mushroom grow kit (from me) for Christmas and so when Ben left his here I was excited to see if it worked.

From the off it was clear I hadn't understood the instructions, as I had mushrooms growing out of the top of the box (see extra), which then went very dry and inedible.  Once I'd actually removed the plastic grow bag from the box I discovered it was a solid mass of fungi which has not 'rejuvenated' after a good soaking...

So here you have, what looks like a mushroom chinchilla, with a banana for scale.  It is now in the recycling....
