Canal interlude
Pilates sadly cancelled today as our teacher is ill, hope your better soon C.
So despite the dismal cold damp weather we decided to get out for a brief walk along the Leeds Liverpool canal and a very reasonable coffee at the 5 Rise Locks cafe.
Not surprisingly the cafe sits at the top of the 250 year old Five Rise locks which are always great to see. Not much activity today but there was a lock keeper at the top raking out some twigs and weeds.
On our return we took the lower path which skirts Bingley North Bog as I knew there would be some catkins on view. Near enough for a reasonable snap.
Near the Three Rise locks we reminisced about Treaclecock Alley which used to be the route here to the locks from the main road. It went under the railway but was closed when the ‘new’ bypass and bridge was built some years ago. Hard to tell now where it came out but at the road end you can see the start of the alley enclosed between the cemetery wall and a fence with an old defunct street light still visible above it.
Started cutting out some more embroidered felt decorations, this time for Easter, with the leftover materials from my 12 Days of Christmas kit. Giving jigsaws a brief rest as I’m now down to 2! Will have to look out for more if this dismal weather continues much longer.
