What I've Done

The weather in the central lakes today was cloudy and damp. However the forecast for the West was rather better, so we drove down to Eskdale and walked Muncaster Fell. Having completed 4 rounds of the Wainwrights (and on the way to the 5th) we fancied a new set of walks, turning to the Wainwright book on "The outlying fells" we found we'd done a few - but there's a hundred or so to go. Unlikely we'll complete them all due to the distances involved, but it makes a great change to walk somewhere completely new.

Through the gateway in the dry stone wall, in the distance, lies Scafell, with just a smattering of snow left on the top. The clouds to the right engulf Great Gable and the rest of the lakes, but we enjoyed a fabulous day of excellent weather, and a very enjoyable 8 mile walk - though boggy at times - and a really good pint on the way home.
