Dots 'n Dashes

This is a first sketch for a full flower portrait. Actually it was only meant to be a pencil sketch but I was getting lost with all the little florets. I decided to take it a step further and add pen using dots and dashes to represent the shading.

 Immediately I was able to understand where each individual flower was sitting. It now makes it easier for me to transfer to my watercolour paper and follow the 'map'. 

It made quite a pretty little picture too!
