Prudential RideLondon Surrey Classic
Have a mixed relationship with RideLondon as me and SR both entered the ballot thinking it would be a great way to transfer some of our running fitness to the bike. Nothing like a 100 mile race to get you training on the bike. We planned to get proper road bikes and train a lot, but we didn't get in. Its only anecdotal evidence but of the people I know the only ones who got entries were men who had evidence of many races. I think they streamed the entries based on ability and didn't want any muppets like us although I see Boris got an entry. Would like to see him going up Box Hill.
But the professional race is another thing. A bit disappointing there were not so many big names, but nice that Peter Sagan and David Millar are here. It was great to see a professional bike race coming through richmond park again a year after the olympics. No where near as busy as for the olympics. We took the ferry to ham and walked up into the park to sawyers hill and got a good spot. As usual it was very exciting as the riders got nearer, we saw then coming up the hill and then in 20 seconds they were gone past. I've been wanting this shot with the skyline since last year.
