Sparkling!

A trip to Paris!

Doing catch-up here after a short trip to Paris to celebrate my birthday (and our wedding anniversary). We had not been to Paris for eleven years, so this visit was long overdue.

For once, we had a flight at a civilised hour and all went to plan, so we arrived at our hotel mid-afternoon. A surprise bunch of roses and a bottle of champagne greeted me when we entered our room - and who said romance was dead! (Extra1)

After getting ourselves organised we headed down to  the Pont Neuf for a boat trip. (Extra2). The weather was pretty chilly, but the boat wasn’t too busy so we were able to come and go from the outside to in quite easily to keep warm. The Eiffel Tower was popular with everyone, of course, but the absolute highlight came at precisely 7pm as the boat turned to face the tower and extra sparkly lights came on and covered the structure for around five minutes. It was quite breathtakingly magical. The absolute highlight of the boat cruise.

Afterwards, we headed back in the direction of our hotel and had a bite to eat before retiring for the night.
