Friendship
There is a group of 10 of us who’ve been going on short breaks and meals out for 20 years. Half of us are ex colleagues from AstraZeneca. The conversation is frequently inappropriate or sarcastic as we know each other so well. I wondered what would happen when we got older and unfortunately one of the men has AMD and can’t drive far and another one has a cancerous brain tumour. It’s sad but we’re sticking together. I’m the oldest so I’m lucky I’m still ok. I had a slightly inappropriate and sarcastic phone conversation with the guy with the tumour. At least I made him laugh. I always remember my friend, who died young from cancer, saying she wanted people to talk to her as usual. She meant have a joke, moan a bit, ask advice as normal.
I think I’ve omitted to thank some of you for hearts lately so Merci beaucoup.
