Council disaster
As I said on Wednesday's Blip - the results of my advice could be a Blip for another day. So here it is.
I couldn't believe when I passed this morning that all the Cordylines in Argyll Square, and in particular the specimen in my Blip from last Wednesday, had been given the chop, taking out most of the healthy trunks. Absolute vandalism! If that man had worked for me he would have been sacked on the spot!
On a positive note I met up for lunch with Mark, the new Head Gardener at Arduaine. We came back to the house and enjoyed several hours of chatting about the garden and its plants, and the need for a total rethink after the necessary felling of over 1,000 larches due to the disease Phytophthora ramorum, aka known as Sudden Oak Death. I look forward to many more such chats and I hope to visit as the spring advances.
A wonderfully sunny day today, with a magnificent sunset. Long may it continue!
Quote of the Day: 'A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust.’ – Gertrude Jekyll.
