Can You Hear the Sea?

A very wet and dismal day today. I didn't have to go far. I popped over to visit Mum. She was pleased to see me, but very sleepy, so I didn't stay long. One of our elderly neighbours passed away suddenly on Thursday morning. He drove down to the local shop at about 7am as usual to get his newspaper. He bought the paper, said "See you tomorrow" to the newsagent, stepped outside to the car park, had a sudden heart attack and died there and then. He was a lovely guy, but very lonely. I used to see him a lot, but since his wife died he has shut himself away. I've knocked on his door a few times, but he wouldn't answer. I took a sympathy card to his house for his family.
The shell is just one of dozens of things I keep on a shelf ready for an emergency blip. Shells are beautiful objects. Made by such simple creatures. With all our technology, machines and computers we would struggle to replicate this amazing object.
