Amaryllis

Our white amaryllis is now in full flow and only when setting up this photograph did I notice the whispers of pink in the petals of the leading flower.

I wondered if this was a case of phylogeny recapitulating ontogeny and put the question to an AI app.

The response, no!

Firstly, the theory has apparently, been discredited and then there were a number of reasons given for these traces of pink.
Genetic variation
Reversion or mutation
Environmental influences
Chimerism

Take your pick.
