Better
After the last two days of low cloud and mizzle, summer is once again with us. I feel I may have written these very words in several Blips in the last two and a half months...
With temperatures in the upper 20s from mid-morning onwards I decided that an early walk was sensible. Even so Bean was bushed after a kilometre or so, so we came home. Her intolerance of warmth is the only remaining sign that she's been ill. Hopefully this too shall pass.
There has been some excellent cloudage up above throughout the day; this being the most interesting array of clouds pretending to be cabbage tree leaves - long and thin with a curve at one end.
I decided to do very little once the day heated up: certainly nothing out in the sun, nor anything strenuous.
The garden watering was complete immediately after breakfast. Then I began making a Red Leicester cheese. It is a bit more involved than many of my cheeses, so making it on a day when I'm not distracted by outdoor jobs is a good plan. It will be ready in October.
Bean supervised. And was rewarded with two tablespoons of thin whey once the Ricotta was done: a real treat. (The remaining thin whey feeds the tomato and sweetcorn plants when it has cooled down.)
I listened to the entire audiobook of C S Lewis' The Magician's Nephew as I cheesed. It is beautifully read by Kenneth Branagh and kept me absorbed throughout.
There is a complete news blackout Chez M&B today, to safeguard my mental health.
