FAT SCAMP
Ive been on a day trip to Yorkshire today to see Becky, Mike and Astrid --- and to see where they are living now. They moved just before Christmas and I hadn't seen their new house till today.
I got a bus at around 8.20am and then a train from Newcastle which got to Northallerton at about 10.30am. Becky and Astrid met me at the station and we walked to their house. I had a " guided tour ". Its lovely. Had a cup of coffee and a catch up and then we walked into the town centre and had a wander around the shops. Stopped off for a coffee in the Hotel Chocolat cafe.
Before heading home we bought a couple of Fat Scamps from Taylors Bakery. Becky and I ate them later. They are similar to the Fat Rascals you can get from Bettys. A cross between a scone and a rock bun with flaked almonds, a crystallized orange segment and glace cherries. Delicious ... and very filling. ( and full of syns.... but I wasn't counting syns today )
Mike was working from home but he was free to give me a lift to the station to catch my train at 4.55pm. 45 mins later I was back in Newcastle. Not long to wait for a bus home.
So I had a lovely day out and the travel was trouble free. I already have a couple more visits planned in the coming months. Its great not to have to travel as far as Sussex to see them now. .
The weather today was VERY cold.
Ive added an Extra - a view of Durham from the train.
Steps today - 13,693
