Bus Challenge No 237
Helios, Bath Assembly Rooms
“Helios is a brand-new 7-metre diameter sculpture by artist Luke Jerram and will be launching to the public at Bath Assembly Rooms. Helios, Ancient Greek for the sun, follows Luke’s previous celestial sculptures of ‘Gaia’ ‘Museum of the Moon’ and ‘Mars’.
With rippling lights, solar imagery and sounds of the sun recorded by NASA, you’re invited to come and experience this audio-visual wonder.
Scaled so that each centimetre represents 2000 kilometres of the real sun’s surface, this is a unique opportunity to take a closer look at the star and details such as sunspots and solar flares.” National Trust
A triple Bus Challenge this morning for my BC friend and me. First stop was a café on Pulteney Bridge to take in the view of the weir (extra 1). Then on to Victoria Art Gallery to see the latest exhibition, “Mirror of Mirth: Satire in Georgian Bath”; not really my cup of tea but I did like the fancy outfit in my second extra and the third one shows how the Assembly Rooms would’ve looked back in 1798, quite a contrast! Third stop was Helios; with the unusual soundtrack, quite an experience. My fourth extra shows a closeup of Helios, reminded me of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.
A bitterly cold day, only 3 degrees but with the brisk wind felt like -1. Was glad to get home at lunchtime and have a long hot bath to warm up.
Total bus journey time = 48mins
Thank you for your kind stars and hearts for my two Spring flower blips.
