Rosette

Rosette Nebula (aka Caldwell 49), photographed from the back garden. It’s about 5000 light years away. This one is definitely not visible to the naked eye - it’s too faint. Find Orion’s Belt, jump up to the reddish star Betelgeuse and it’s off to the left. You might just be able to see it with a good pair of binoculars.
