Stalybridge Hyde Mossley & Dukinfield Joint Board

A rollercoaster of a day that was punctuated with a stroll in the sunshine with Eldest. We walked to Hyde Park, sat near the Model 23 for a while to chat before heading back home.

Along the main street near where we live my eyes alerted Brain to something at ground level walked over many times over more decades than I'd like to mention but never paid much attention to.

Another utility cover rabbithole. The letters stand for the title of the blip. SHMD Joint Board was the original public transport company on our borough, operating Trams before Trolleybuses and motor Buses gradually replaced them.

Am not aware of trams running along here but maybe trolley buses. Will have to go burrowing for old transport photographs of the area. SHMD generated and distributed their own power originally before handing over their electrical infrastructure to Norweb when electricity supply was nationalised in 1948.

That makes this likely older and pretty rare...unless you count the other two we walked over the next 3 or 400 yards!

Was grateful for a video natter with bestie later in the afternoon followed by a takeaway for tea. Tomorrow a lie -in hopefully before a weekend of nightshifts.
