The old barn

Built in 1864 this is probably the date of the old farmyard which now has modern barns and yards added to it.  Someone once said the local farmers used to bring their milk  to the barn for cheesemaking.  Since then it has been used for a number of different purposes, the last was where the old grain dryer was housed and there was a large pit in the floor for the grain to pile up on its journey through the dryer.  Recently we have had to renew the righthand side of the roof facing north which was rotting so now the interior of the building will be dry  for many years to come
