St Helena's Churchyard

We woke to a hard frost. Within half an hour, a heavy mist had enveloped us, persisting all morning.

Just after 2 pm we drove off in the fog to see the snowdrops in the churchyard of St Helena's in West Leake. As we climbed the rise to the turn off to West Leake, a shaft of sunshine appeared, and even a patch of blue sky. It didn't take long to reach the church by which time the sun was shining brightly, albeit a thin veil of mist persisted over the fields.

What a wonderful sight they were. No matter how I see snowdrops year after year, they gladden my heart. Len took Basil down to the boundary with the fields beyond, overlooking a lovely rural landscape.

We thought we'd go to Love and Piste just beyond East Leake where there's a nice little coffee shop. We arrived at 3.01pm and they'd turned the coffee machine off.  Why do these places persist in closing so early?
