Horizons of Water
Runeberg's Day. I worked at the office today. Then I visited pharmacy, Pala Cafe and Art Gallery Himmelblau. In Himmelblau there are currently works of six different artists:
Tiina Kivinen: Garden of Shadows
Ulla-Maija Alanen: Horizons of Water
Inka Hannula and Teemu Raudaskoski: Everything will Work Out
Elisa Serave and Stina Palomäki: Good Girl
In the picture there are Ulla-Maija Alanen's beautiful water lily prints.
Ulla-Maija Alanen’s exhibition explores the horizons of water through water lilies found in Finnish forest lakes. Rather than focusing on the plant’s traditional beauty, Alanen is drawn to its animal-like form and behaviour hidden beneath the water’s surface. In the depths, the lily’s many life stages unfold, each approached by the artist with equal admiration.
As summer ends, the flower closes its petals for the last time and begins its descent to the bottom, ready to bring forth new life from its maturing seeds. Alanen captures an astonishing scene: the plant expels its red seeds into its surroundings while maintaining its form with its last traces of strength. This fireworks display is the plant’s final cry. Through its death, new life sparks.
We ate one more Runeberg's cakes in the evening, this time Elonen's. 5/5 points from me!
