That’s a spicy-a-‘meat’ball!
Ongoing efforts to consume less meat….tonight sees the first appearance of Linda McCartney tomato & basil meatballs. I’d tried her vegetarian sausage rolls before, and found them pretty good, so thought whizzing up some onion, garlic, chilli flakes and chopped tomatoes, roasting the meatballs, then combining with some pasta in the one pan approach was worth trying.
Results? Perfectly palatable, but really not a patch on ground mince meatballs, browned then slow-simmered in same sort of sauce. The spheroids didn’t really absorb any of the flavour, too compact. An ok substitute, but glad I was a bit heavy on the chilli!
