Significant birthday

Today was a not the actual date of a significant birthday for Carl's Dad, but it was the day he chose to come down to London to celebrate.
It started with a trip to the V and A for a visit to the David Bowie exhibition, the last time I visit a popular exhibition on the weekend before it closes! Then a stroll around Borough Market before a trip up the Shard. I was completely ready to write the shard off as a tourist gimmick (and maybe if I'd actually paid the £25 ticket price I still would!) but actually it was brilliant. Far better than any of the other tall offerings for seeing the city I love at a distance that blurs out all the parts you don't want to see. And it makes the trains look like toys and the people like ants. Now who has 50 million (no exaggeration!) to buy me the flat below the viewing tower??
