The walk to the cemetery
I can't really remember what we did today but it was busy! Esme and Joe came after school and there was some imaginative play in the magnificently jungly garden followed by a large baked potato and a jigsaw. After they'd gone, we walked down to the historic cemetery at Clifton, the dusty roads lined with wild fennel. The cemetery is resting place to some of the early settler families and is right by the sea, encircled by some colossal trees. As we went in the noise of cicadas was deafening and we were astounded to find one tree literally covered in empty shells or ghosts where the cicadas had emerged.
