Love this row of poplars - very NZ - we had a row by our batch when I was growing up, until they went down like nine pins in the cyclone of 1968, with wind speeds of 170 miles an hours in places - blowing the roofs off houses in our road, and capsizing the cross channel ferry Wahini.
