That Will Do!

Tiny Tuesday

Tiny Tuesday comes from the kitchen this week, which poses the question of choosing something obvious, like peppercorns, chia seeds, mustard seeds, or something different.

Naturally I chose the latter, which lives in and is used in the kitchen but is strictly non-culinary. These Magic Beads are made of copper, around 3mm diameter, and are for cleaning glass, such as vases that have had flowers leave a deposit of algae, or wine decanters that have deposited sediment, in fact anything that detergent won't clean on its own.

The technique is simple, just add warm soapy water to the glass then the beads and swirl them all round a while, until any deposit is removed. The most difficult part is emptying it all out without throwing the beads down the sink - I tip them into a sieve and go on from there.

An alternative, especially for lead crystal, is to use lead shot, which is softer and more gentle so will not scratch, I bought mine from a local gun shop, averting my eyes as far as possible from the weaponry.

Thanks to our new host, cathy 1947, who set the challenges for this month.
