CAN YOU GUESS WHERE WE'VE BEEN TODAY?
Hello Lovely Blippers,
When we heard that Mrs. HCB had an appointment at Leightons, her opticians, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce the new members of the Silly Saturday Gang to them - usually, I take them all with me, but decided that might not be appropriate, as they can be quite busy during the afternoon.
So, Zappi, the new penguin and Gobby, the new turkey tidied themselves up and off we all went with the HCBs. You might be wondering why Gobby is so called - and I will tell you. His real name is Gobbledygook, but I’m sure you will understand that although Mrs. HCB has very good writing, she said she just couldn’t get all that onto a tiny Leightons’ badge - so we had a little pow-wow and came up with the name of Gobby. You may think that is a derogatory term for someone who is quite talkative, and of course, it can be - not that we think Mrs. HCB is anything like that - perish the thought - but we like to think it is also a term of endearment for our new member, Gobbledygook and if nothing else, it made the staff at Leightons laugh! ;-)
You might remember that Mrs HCB has had a few issues with her left eye since she had the cataract operation in July last year, so she saw the lovely Gill at Leightons today for another appointment. Gill has been excellent and has seen Mrs. HCB every month since the operation and it is two months since her December appointment, so she has been keeping a “careful eye” on her - and yes, the pun is intended!
Today, Gill gave Mrs. HCB another very thorough examination and said that although her distance vision is still very good at 20/20, she can see that the blurriness has got slightly worse. She did explain why to Mrs. HCB, but we were sitting very quietly and didn’t hear all that was said, but the outcome was that Gill will refer Mrs. HCB back to the Eye Clinic. She said they will probably laser the eye to get rid of the blurriness, and it is a very quick procedure, but she didn’t think it was going to get any better. Mrs. HCB is happy with that and now has to wait for an appointment, which should come quite quickly.
After the consultation, we all went out and sat on the table next to the coffee machine and you can see that Gobby was “right in” with the biscuits - and very nice biscuits they were too. In fact, we even brought some home with us and will enjoy them with our hot chocolate a bit later. You can see that Gobby has three biscuits, so we will have to make sure that he doesn’t snaffle them all. Even on a Tuesday, that would be too silly!
We then wandered round to Jack’s and the HCBs had a coffee, but we were very good and sat quietly in the bag - well, we didn’t want Flo to think that we were being rude about her - but as you know, she gives the very best insults! Apart from which, you also know that we encourage everyone to BE KIND and today was no exception. In fact, we met a lovely lady in Leightons, who had a little dog she called “Golden”, but that was after Mrs. HCB had taken the photograph of us - which was a shame, otherwise we could have all been in it together!
Hope you have all had a good start to your week. Mr. HCB says he thinks that the weather should get better - colder, but drier, so we are looking forward to that. Take care and have a great evening.
Love to you all from
Leighton, Zappi and Gobby xxx
