Above Kirkwall (Day 3556)

Pain levels this morning were way worse than they have been for a long time. Even sitting still was hurting.
I was taken through to the airport by my beautiful wife and at check in explained that I can't stand still for more than a couple of minutes before the pain becomes excruciating and I asked if it would be possible to be called through security ahead of everyone else so I wasn't standing in a queue. The lady at the desk said she would "try to remember". She forgot, obviously and I stood in a queue for too long. I was made to stand and wait while I had my bag and laptop swabbed. By the time I got to sit down I was trying my best not to be sick. It is only a tiny airport dealing with one small plane at a time, so I was hoping for better treatment.
The plane to Glasgow was only half full meaning there was a bit more space for everyone. I managed a snooze, and woke up in less pain just before landing in Glasgow.
I got a taxi to the hotel, where I was told I was far too early to check in. The receptionist said she could keep my bag for me while I went to kill some time. I found my way to the MRI scanner, then had a wander along the side of the Forth and Clyde canal which seems to be a resting place for a vast number of shopping trolleys. Most of the trees lining the footpath seemed to be festooned with bags of dog crap, and the undergrowth was a graveyard to cans, bottles and various other detritus. I did see various waterfowl in the foul water, but I suspect if it was cleaned up there would be more to see.
After wandering for a while I headed back to the hotel and managed to check in to my room.
My MRI scan is at 9 in the morning, then I will check out and head back to the airport and home to somewhere a little cleaner.
The extra for today, you know you are flying Loganair when you get a Tunnocks caramel wafer with your coffee...
