Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Bullrushes

Bullrushes on the village pond. What else can I say?

Extra. A photo from our days in Fiji. This mongoose used to wander into the house if we let the door open!
Mongooses are not native to Fiji but were introduced in the 19th century to try and reduce the number of rats in the sugar cane fields. The rats had themselves been accidentally introduced from visiting ships. Life being what it is there are still plenty of rats and mongooses!
