Male Blackbird

For someone who doesn't take many straight wildlife images, I'm really quite enjoying making a wee record of the birds visiting the garden at the moment.
In the very brief moment when they're not squabbling with other males or chasing females,  the male blackbirds pose like models showing off their fine plumage, beak and eye surround.

I'm also making some unexpected discoveries as I go along.  For example I hadn't realised how messy blackbirds' beaks are.  All the crumbs and bits of food on them are more than a little reminiscent of my jersey and beard after a meal.
