Stoneware
Wet first thing in the morning. more or less overcast all day, 7C high. Neither obviously fair nor foul, so we will have to guess about the remaining duration of winter after Candlemas Day.
If Candlemas day be dry and fair,
The half o' winter's to come and mair ;
If Candlemas day be wet and foul,
The half o' winter's gane at Yule.
In the afternoon I went down the Water of Leith path to Coburg St, to the small ceramics exhibition at Coburg House. Was attracted to Liz Bertam-Gossan's stoneware shapes and will look for more of her work.
Through to Leith Walk. bought chocolate from Krema, tram to Picardy Place.
"Liz Bertram-Gossan's stoneware ceramic spheres are inspired by weathered holey stones found on the beach and Barbara Hepworth's organic abstract sculptures. She is fascinated by the interplay between organic curves and sharp lines, reflecting a contrast between softness and rigidity, much like the natural forces that shape the stones. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, the tunnels within the spheres invite viewers to look through and beyond, offering a sense of depth and perspective."
