ACACIA baileyana

It was a gorgeous morning, so Angus & I took a long walk to visit
my favorite Australian tree, AKA Cootamundra wattle, (great name!)
to see if it is blooming.  Last year, we waited too long, but today,
we picked the perfect day.   One of the trees was still in bud, but the
other had masses of these bright yellow flowers.

The flowers are wonderful, but I like the leaves even more.
They are feather-like, blue/grey & even have some purple
when Spring arrives.

These trees are in the perfect place, on a slope, behind a
fence, where those masses of flowers & seed pods can
drop undisturbed.   In a garden this tree might be
labelled "messy," or invasive; but here, they grow wild, in all their glory.

Timing is everything!
