Underground Ice

As I did one of the regular walks today I decided to  detour to the ice tunnel. I then wondered if that was a wise choice because  the last 150 meters the snow was knee-deep and it was hard work! However, when I finally arrived and saw these ice formations  I was happy to have kept going.
This tunnel runs about 100 m straight into the hill. It has sat there unused all the time we have lived here and in the summer I've walked to the end a couple of times. I'm here much more often in the winter to admire these ice stalactites. I should have added something to show scale but the tallest ones in the foreground are a bit more than waist height.
My detour was unplanned, a spur of the moment idea, and I wasn't wearing spiked shoes so I only went in a meter or two. As you can imagine the floor is very slippery. In the entrance someone has left a bicycle, leaning against the wall. It has also become a bit of a snow and ice formation, as you can see in the extra.
Otherwise it was a morning of taking it easy, later some baking preparation, and then the walk to the tunnel. More baking work when I got home plus some electrical work in The Red House. A wobbly wall socket turned out to need a bit more than a tightened screw.
Tomorrow two sorts of bread will get baked and I hope that wobbly socket will finally get fixed.
Now it's time for bed!
