Three amigos and a charm bracelet!

Today was the Hardmoors Saltburn Marathon, a self navigated marathon along the Cleveland Way, and Tees trail!

Myself and Paul were treating this as a long run, and Kate (pictured) wasn’t looking for a time either! Although I fully expected her to end up in front as we had run LCW 3 weeks ago and still had those miles plus some heavy strength training in our legs.

The first 7 miles were stunning coastal paths, with views for miles with the charm bracelet coming in on mile 3.5, from miles 8-18 were a tough section and those battered legs of mine let me know they were not best pleased with my latest idea! I kept fuelling and running everything we could, and then when we got the checkpoint 4 and pointed up the biggest hill of the course, the DR pepper and fuel kicked in, myself and Paul overtook 10 people on the climb up, let Late briefly catch up and put our second wind to good use.

We did not let a single soul pass us in the second half but we passed plenty, with Sally Mcraes Mantra of pass, gap and bury ringing in my head!

A negative split race, finishing about five mins in front of Kate, great fuelling and a great mood, along with the stunning weather made for a superb event and a great day out!

Thanks to Mum and Brian for the birthday pressie!
