Inspiration
Well, I love books and I love stitching . . . so of course I love books about stitching. Last year I was so happy to have been gifted an old and beautiful book of needlework and I often look through and find out the history of stitches and techniques https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3118589200576807487
However, I also of course buy new books and here are two. Batsford publishing produce some very fine textile books and I have a growing collection of them. They are my ‘go to’ browsing books, as well as reference books. They are beautifully produced, with pages laid out to encourage perusal. You can’t tell this from the photo but they have a kind of textured cover - although hardback, it feels fabric-like.
The books in the photo
Claire Wellesley-Smith is said to be the inspiration for the ‘slow stitch’ trend - an inspirational book.
Cas Holmes is a fine textile artist, I have followed her for a long, long time and am always inspired by her work when seen in exhibitions (I met her this year at the Knitting & Stitching Show in London). I love browsing her books and finding out how she, and others, work.
