Fúsi: Age and previous occupation

A beautiful and heartwarming theatre about a remarkable life.

"Fúsi: Age and previous occupation" is a documentary play about Sigfús Sveinbjörn Svanbergsson. In the play, Fúsi reviews his life and selected scenes from the last six decades are brought to life through song and play with the help of actors and singers. Fúsi is a humorist, football enthusiast, actor, singer and artist who reminds us that life is always worth living, even if sometimes it sucks. The obstacles in Fúsi's life have strengthened him and encouraged him to live life to the fullest with his disability and enjoy every single day. Sometimes, however, life experiences are of such a nature that it will never be possible to fully overcome them, no matter how positive and strong an individual is.

The play is based on interviews with Fúsi, which his uncle Agnar Jón Egilsson (who is also the director of the play) conducted with him during the covid-pandemic. The genesis of the play is therefore the relationship between the uncles Fúsi and Agnar and their time spent together.

The show was nominated for a number of Gríman Awards in 2024, including Show of the Year and won the awards for directing and Sproti of the Year. Fúsi also received the Múrbrjóturinn, an award from Þroskahjálp, for breaking down walls for the benefit of people with intellectual disabilities.
