And I Am Telling You You're Not Going
I decided to start February out by taking my bike up to my favorite pond in the Scotia Barrens to check things out. What I discovered: the pathway into the Barrens is a sheet of ice, as is the access road into the parking lot (which my bike is parked on in the photo above), as is the parking lot itself.
If you think you are going into the woods, please be aware that conditions there may not be what you expected. Wear good, grippy footwear, and have a plan B. For instance, instead of walking on the icy path, I sidled along it in the snow right next to the path, so that I did not fall.
And some places? You are just not GOING there. Oh, and by the way, the wind picked up just after I took this photo, and it blew my bike right over onto the ice! Nothing seemed to be harmed, but it was a surprise. Also of note: it was about 31 degrees when I was out, but the wind chill coming back down the hill on my bike at top speed? That was truly BITTER; nearly froze the top of my head off!
My soundtrack song is Jennifer Hudson, with And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going.
