Butterflies and birds
I thought we’d be chilling out today in the beautiful grounds of the hacienda. That didn’t last long - we were summoned at 11 to a cookery class to learn about traditional Colombian food. The recipe was for Fiambe Quindiano. Basically we chopped veg. Then the chef cooked it all and we assembled the rice, cassava and potato on a banana leaf, put the veg mix on top and those who wanted put on cooked chicken. When we made a parcel and it was steamed. It was a bit bland for my taste.
By the time we’d done this and eaten it our taxi arrived to take us to the Botanical gardens. The group were going to do a tour of the coffee farm and get a demonstration of basket weaving. As we’d already visited a coffee farm in Guatemala we thought we’d give it a miss. We had an English speaking guide at the gardens and enjoyed seeing the humming birds, a blue motmot and many butterflies though we’d seen them all before in Costa Rica.
It was almost dark when we got back so I just had time for a quick swim in the infinity pool.
This was done on 1 Feb but Blip / my app insisted it was 2 Feb and wouldn’t let me post it yesterday because 2 Feb hadn’t occurred. I can try to change date on iPad once it is posted.
Nathaniel has been offered the part of the boy in Goodnight Mr Tom at the People’s Theatre but he’ll have to get his hair cut! It means missing out on an audition for a chorus part in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
